This specimen was lot 1308 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 38 (Winter Park, FL, November 2025), where it sold for $36,000. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "[[Spain|SPAIN]], Seville, gold milled 8 escudos, Philip V, 1703 M, S-8-M-8, NGC MS 64, finest known in NGC census. Choice strike with sharp interior details (the rims slightly crude from minor centering issues), unusually prominent edge from aggressive milling on a broad flan, exceptional surfaces with much luster for the period, rare and important as the highest grade on record for this date." This type was struck at Seville 1701-19. Assayers J and M are known for 1703 with "M" priced about double that of "J". All dates are expensive.
