This specimen was lot 36201 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2022), where it sold for $240. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "ITALY. [[Italy, Naples & Sicily|Sicily]]. 12 Tari, ND (1799-1804)-JU I. Ferdinand III. PCGS VF-35." Ferdinand IV was the third son of Charles III, king of Spain 1759-88 and the younger brother of Charles IV. This scarce type of 1799-1804 normally comes dated; this example's date is illegible because of heavy adjustment marks. We have arbitrarily assigned this to 1799 as that is the most common date. The twelve tari was last struck in 1810. The coinage of Naples and Sicily were finally unified in 1815.
