This specimen was lot 42431 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2024), where it sold for $1,320. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "ITALY. [[Italy, Naples & Sicily|Naples & Sicily]] (Sicily). 6 Tari, 1732-CP SM. Palermo Mint. Carlo III (Holy Roman Emperor Charles VI). PCGS AU-55. The finer of just two observed in the PCGS census, this near-Mint minor presents a charming gunmetal gray tone along with some delightful brilliance remaining and some hints of iridescence to elevate its character that much more. From the Richard Margolis Collection." Charles II, the last Hapsburg king of Spain, was also king of Naples and Sicily. After his death the area passed out of the hands of the Spanish crown, only to be reconquered by them in the 1730's. In the interim, Charles VI, Holy Roman Emperor 1711-40, was also king of Sicily 1720-34. This rare type, worth half a piastra, was also struck in [[Sicily 1733-CP SM 6 tari|1733]].
