This specimen was lot 2505 in Künker sale 439 (Osnabrück, March 2026), where it sold for €3,400 (about US$4,677 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''SACHSEN, KURFÜRSTENTUM Friedrich August III. (I.), 1763-1806-1827. 10 Taler (Doppelter August d'or) 1800 IEC. GOLD. Sehr schön-vorzüglich.'' ([[German States, Saxony|electorate of Saxony]], Frederick Augustus III, 1763-1827, ten thaler or double august d'or of 1800. Very fine to extremely fine.)"</blockquote> The elector of Saxony consistently stood as an ally of Napoleon during his invasions of Germany, for which he was promoted to king in 1806. After Napoleon's fall, Saxony was punished by having half her territory annexed to Prussia but Frederick Augustus kept his new title. This type is listed for 1791-1806 and despite the steady production, is rare. The denomination was terminated in 1854. This coin was also called a double ''august d'or'' and was equal to a Prussian [[Prussia 1800-A 2 friedrichs d'or Fr-2421 double ''friedrichs d'or.'']]
