This specimen was lot 2627 in Künker sale 384 (Osnabrück, March 2023), where it sold for €1,200 (about US$1,551 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''Johann Jakob Khuen von Belasi, 1560-1586. Dukat 1582, mit Titel Rudolfs II. GOLD. Min. gewellt, sehr schön-vorzüglich. Exemplar der Auktion Kölner Münzkabinett 39, Köln 1985, Nr. 638.'' (archbishopric of [[Austria, Salzburg|Salzburg]], John Jacob Khuen of Belasi, 1560-86, ducat of 1582, struck in the name of Rudolf II. Lightly bent, very fine to extremely fine.)"</blockquote> The Archbishopric of Salzburg was an ecclesiastical state between Bavaria and Austria and usually ruled by a Hapsburg client. This type is listed for 1569-86. The obverse was redesigned to show St. Rudbert above the arms, he having been displaced from the reverse by the imperial eagle. In the seventeenth century, Salzburg was blessed with a number of productive silver mines and the prince-archbishop was a prolific issuer of coins, particularly thalers. The archbishopric was secularized in 1803 and passed to [[Austria]] in 1813.
