This specimen was lot 339 in Sincona sale 65 (Zurich, October 2020), where it sold for 80 CHF (about US$105 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"1/4 Kopeck 1910, St. Petersburg Mint, SPB. Nice toning. About uncirculated. (''1/4 копейки 1910, СПб МД, СПБ. 0,80 г. Биткин 280. Красивый оттенок поверхности. Состояние практически превосходное.'')" </blockquote> According to the ''SCWC'', the weight was reduced in 1894 from 3 g to 0.8 g but we think the weight reduction occurred earlier. This type was struck 1894-1900, 1909-10. Proofs exist. It was also issued 1915-16 without mintmark (Y47.2). The production of the copper coinage was farmed out to branch mints in the early and mid nineteenth century but after 1876 St. Petersburg was the sole producer of this denomination, also known as a polushka.
