This specimen was lot 24860 in Heritage sale 3030 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $9,987.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Elizabeth Rouble 1742 СПБ, St. Petersburg mint, MS63 NGC. A truly amazing early Elizabeth Rouble. This piece has full, original luster, with a touch of golden color, and only minor flaws that detract little from the sparkling appearance of this exceptional piece." The coinage of [[Russia]] of the eighteenth century is a confusing and fascinating subject. This type, issued 1742 from St. Petersburg and 1742-51 from [[Russia 1742-MMA ruble Dav-1678|Moscow]], is fairly common. The rubles of Peter II were about 28 grams but this type seems to be only 26 grams.
