This specimen was lot 30576 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2022), where it sold for $12,000. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "Penultimate Date for the Coinage of Peter the Great [[Russia|RUSSIA]]. 2 Rubles, 1724. Moscow (Red) Mint. Peter I (the Great). PCGS Genuine--Polished, AU Details. Variety with no cross beam on sleeve. There are some contact marks in the fields and a few on the bust, mostly subdued by an old polishing. Nevertheless, a VERY RARE and seldom offered piece from late in the rule of Peter the Great, and from the same year in which he had his wife, Empress Catherine I, crowned as co-ruler." This rare type was struck 1722-25. This denomination was struck sporadically until the reign of Catherine the Great.
