This specimen was lot 20219 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (Newport Beach, CA, January 2021), where it sold for $5,040. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "[[Germany|GERMANY]]. [[German States, Regensburg|Regensburg]]. 2 Ducats, 1627. NGC AU Details--Surface Hairlines. Featuring the Trinity Church, this charming and VERY RARE example was struck with ducat dies but on an extra thick planchet to the weight of 2 Ducats, acting as a Piefort. Barely handled, it retains a good deal of shimmering brilliance all while displaying great detail on the church. Some hairlines are noted, likely emanating from an earlier cleaning. Given its unusual nature, an offering which should undoubtedly generate great enthusiasm and focus. Ex: Stack's (1/2008) Lot # 2742. Ex: UBS 60 (9/2004) Lot # 9." This is the first double ducat of the seventeenth century. There is also a single ducat (KM 56).
