This specimen was lot 3661 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabruck, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €100 (about US$139 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich II. der Große, 1740-1786. Groschen 1764, E, Königsberg. Prägung für die Provinz Preußen. Die Vorderseitenumschrift beginnt unten links. Vorzüglich. Exemplar der Auktion Dr. Busso Peus Nachf. 391, Frankfurt/Main 2007, Nr. 1506.'' ([[Germany]], [[German States, Prussia|kingdom of Prussia]], Frederick II the Great, 1740-86, groschen of 1764, Königsberg mint, struck for the province of Prussia. The obverse legend begins at the left. Extremely fine.)"</blockquote> This type was struck in 1764 and 1769-70. This type was officially struck for Prussia but likely also circulated in Poland. The weak government there could do little to prevent the dumping of debased coin and Prussia, Russia and Austria were quick to take advantage. After narrowly escaping complete destruction in the Seven Years' War, Frederick II henceforth pursued a much less warlike foreign policy.
