This ten escudos was issued by [[Portugal]] for Portuguese Guinea, a one year type and scarce in nice condition. Many of the pre-World War Two issues for the Portuguese colonies are hard to find. The first specimen was lot 142 in Classical Numismatic Group's sale of the Lissner Collection (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $423.50. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "COLONIAL AFRICA, Portuguese. Guiné Portuguesa (Portuguese Guinea). República Portuguesa. 1910-1974. AR 10 Escudos. Lisboa (Lisbon) mint. Dated 1952. In NGC encapsulation graded MS 66. Gem blast white BU. Highest ever graded specimen and a one year only type."
