The specimen shown is from a type struck for [[Portugal]] 1927-68. The later issues of the 1960's are quite common but earlier dates are not. The 1935 is the key, priced in the SCWC at $6,000 in uncirculated. This bust of Liberty was also used on the [[Portugal 1951 50 centavos|fifty centavos]] of 1927-68 and several colonial coins. Portugal, then under the dictatorship of Antonio Salazar, did not waste any time on idle mottos such a "Liberty," "Freedom," or "Justice."
