This medio real was struck in Lima for [[Peru]] in 1858. It has a large cud error on the portrait side. Bruce<sup>[1]</sup> lists one variety for 1858, that of a 1858/68 reverse overdate. This is the only date for this style of "standing liberty". During this transition period, fractionals denominated in reales mixed with those denominated in centavos and centimos. All coinage after 1858 ceased using the "standing liberty" motif and began using the "seated liberty" design. After 1863 the denomination "real" ceased to be used.<br />
