This specimen was lot 2042 in Classical Numismatic Group's auction of the Richard Lissner collection (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $786.50. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "PERU, Republic. 1821-present. AR Real. Lima mint. Dated 1850 (LIMÆ) MB. In NGC encapsulation graded MS 62. Choice brilliant uncirculated with a couple of faint toning spots. This coin is choice brilliant uncirculated with incredible strike. One of the finest we have seen. Purchased from Paul Puckett, June 1971." This type was struck at Lima 1841-56; the complete span of Peru standing liberty one reales runs 1826-56. Assayer MB is recorded for 1838-56. No varieties are reported in the SCWC for this year. The date is listed in the SCWC as common, tho all Peruvian minors are scarcer in nice condition than the catalog values would indicate. It was legal tender in the United States until 1857 for 12½¢.
