This specimen was lot 1243 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 38 (Winter Park, FL, November 2025), where it sold for $1,140. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "[[Peru|PERU]], Lima, gold 1 escudo, 1850 MB, NGC UNC details / cleaned, ex-Almenara. Satin smooth surfaces with nice luster, full rims, very faint hairlines, one of just two in the NGC census, the other being AU 55. Pedigreed to the Almenara Collection (stated on label)." This type was struck at Cuzco 1826, 1830, 1840 and 1845-46 and at Lima 1826-29, 1833, 1850 and 1855. It is much scarcer than the prices in the SCWC would indicate. This subtype of 1850 and 1855 has the country name abbreviated "REPUB· PERUANA".
