This specimen was lot 2057 in Classical Numismatic Group's auction of the Richard Lissner collection (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $1,028.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "PERU, Republic. 1821-present. AR 8 Reales. Cuzco mint. Dated 1834 CU(ZCO) Bo Ar. In NGC encapsulation graded MS 62. Very lustrous with very light satiny toning over superb surfaces. Hint of striking weakness. Great eye appeal. Highest graded and very nice type coin. Purchased from Freeman Craig, October 1973." This type was struck at Lima 1825-28 and at Cuzco 1826-29 and is rather common; the complete span of Peru standing liberty eight reales runs 1825-55. Assayer B is recorded for the Cuzco mint 1830-35. The issues of 1834-35 from Cuzco are scarce.
