This specimen was lot 1200 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 38 (Winter Park, FL, November 2025), where it sold for $4,200. The catalog description&amp;lt;sup&amp;gt;[1]&amp;lt;/sup&amp;gt; noted, &amp;quot;[[Peru|PERU]], Lima, gold 8 escudos, 1829/8 JM, NGC AU details / cleaned, ex-Almenara. Bold overdate, muted luster and rich gold color, the obverse fraught with minor natural lamination flaws, late die state overall. Pedigreed to the Almenara Collection (stated on label).&amp;quot; The SCWC lists this type from Lima for 1826-30, 1833 and 1840. Cuzco also contributed 1826-40 and 1843-45. Collectively, it is the most common gold coin of the early republic but its gold content makes it expensive.&lt;br /&gt;
