The first specimen was lot 264 in Aureo y Calico sale 242 (Barcelona, March 2012), where it sold for 340 € (about $528 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, <blockquote>"''Fernando VII (1808-1833). 1819. Lima. JP. 1 real. Plata ligeramente agria. Muy bella. Brillo original. EBC+.'' (Ferdinand VII, 1808-33, one real of 1819, Lima mint. Rough surfaces [from rusty dies], very handsome, lustrous, choice extremely fine)."</blockquote> This specimen is one of a series struck 1811-1823 at Lima, [[Peru]], during the reign of Ferdinand VII (1808-33). As a class, colonial coinage of Peru is much less plentiful than that of Mexico, tho it is more available than the remaining mints. However, Harris[2] noted the abundance of Ferdinand VII one reales as follows: Mexico City, Potosi, Santiago, Guatemala (all common), Lima, Zacatecas (somewhat scarce), Bogotá (scarce), Popayán (rare). There is a very scarce issue from Cuzco (KM 114.2).
