This coin was minted in Lima, Peru, of a type struck 1809-10 only. The imaginary bust appeared on one, two, four and eight escudos gold pieces; all are rare. The first specimen was lot 3521 in the Eliasberg sale, where it sold for $13,800. The catalog description[1] noted, "1810 JP 4 escudos. Lima mint. AU-50 (NGC). Types as above. Medium gold, some lustre remaining, traces of removable wax among reverse design elements. Even and choice in appearance and highly elusive type, struck at Lima for only two years. From the John H. Clapp Collection; Clapp estate to Louis E. Eliasberg, Sr., 1942." The second specimen shown was lot 235 in Aureo y Calico sale 232 (Barcelona, March 2011), where it sold for 9,000 euros (about $14,850 including buyer's fees).
