This specimen was lot 711 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 39 (Winter Park, FL, May 2026), where it sold for $1,110. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "[[Peru|PERU]], Lima, cob 8 reales, 1745 V, ex-Ugaz. Atypically oblong flan with good full pillars and cross within flat peripheries, two dates and all three assayers and mintmarks, nicely toned VF with traces of surface porosity. Pedigreed to the Jorge Ugaz Collection." Cob eight reales were struck at the Lima mint 1701-46 for Philip V of Spain and became the "pieces of eight" of pirate lore. Assayer "V" stamped coins 1739-48. The Mexico City mint was converted to milled coinage in 1732-34 but Lima would not follow suit until 1751.
