This specimen was lot 1883 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 39 (Winter Park, FL, May 2026), where it sold for $228. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "[[Peru|PERU]], Lima, cob 1 real, 1734 N, ex-Ugaz. Nice bold date and assayer visible between the pillars, nearly complete cross, VF+ overall with dark gray toning. Pedigreed to the Jorge Ugaz Collection." This type was struck 1729-47 for the Bourbon king Philip V. Assayer Negron y Colmenares ("N") stamped his coins 1728-40. In 1728, the cobs were debased from 0.931 fine to 0.917 fine silver. In 1732, the Mexico City mint began its transition to milled coinage, a process Lima would not undertake until 1751.
