This specimen was lot 74613 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2025), where it sold for $240. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "[[Peru|PERU]]. 2 Reales, 1716-L M. Lima Mint. Philip V. PCGS VF-20. From the Richard August Collection." This type was struck 1701-28 for Philip V with an interruption in 1725 for the short reign of Luis I. Assayer M stamped his coins 1709-27. In 1728, the cobs were debased from 0.931 fine to 0.917 fine silver. The Mexico City mint was converted to milled coinage in 1732-34 but Lima would not follow suit until 1751.
