This specimen was lot 1853 in Künker sale 263 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €320 (about US$414 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''KIRCHENSTAAT/VATIKAN Innocenz XI. 1676-1689. Testone A X/1686, Rom. Prachtexemplar. Herrliche Patina, vorzüglich-Stempelglanz.'' ([[Vatican|Papal States]], Innocent XI, 1676-89, teston of 1686, year 10, Rome mint. Proof example, handsome patina, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"</blockquote> This type was minted in 1686 for Innocent XI. The SCWC lists four different testone for 1686, varying in the design of the cartouche on the reverse. The testone was thirty baiocchi, while the piastra, the Italian equivalent of the German thaler, was 105 baiocchi (3½ testone). The reverse motto, "MELIUS EST DARE QVAM ACCIPERE," is the well known, "It is better to give than to receive."
