This specimen was lot 1322 in Künker sale 403 (Osnabruck, March 2024), where it sold for €320 (about US$420 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''SEDISVAKANZ 1559. Die Münzstätte Rom. Triplice Giulio (Testone) 1559, Rom. Mit Rosette als Mantelschnalle und dem Münzzeichen C in Kreuzglobus (Girolamo Ceuli) auf der Rückseite. Kl. Schrötlingsfehler, sehr schön.'' ([[Vatican|Papal States]], sede vacante of 1559, triple giulio or testone of 1559, Rome mint. With a rosette as cloak brooch and mintmark C in an orb on the reverse. Small planchet defects, very fine.)"</blockquote> This is a very early testone but not the first. While regular papal coinage was either not dated or bore regnal years, ''sede vacante'' coinage usually had the AD date.
