This specimen was lot 2542 in Steve Album Auction 54 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2026), where it sold for $115. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "[[German States, Osnabruck|OSNABRÜCK]]: Free Imperial City, AE 12 pfennig, 1615, mintmaster initials CD, large interesting die cud, PCGS graded AU55." This type was struck 1615, 1623 and 1633. The mintmaster's initials are hard to read because the obverse image is rotated 45°. The bishops of Osnabrück vacillated in the sixteenth century on their resistance to the Reformation and by the beginning of the Thirty Years War the diocese was largely Lutheran. The city and the surrounding bishopric were annexed to Hannover in 1803. Altho the city of Osnabrück today has a population of 168,000, during its time as a free city its population never exceeded 6,000.
