This specimen was lot 50150 in Stack's Bowers Hong Kong auction (Hong Kong, April 2021), where it sold for $3,840. The catalog description[1] noted, <blockquote>"[[Oman|OMAN]]. 25 Omani Rials, 1995. PCGS PROOF-68 Deep Cameo Gold Shield. Struck for the 25th National Day anniversary. A RARE issue struck in gold with the addition of colorization atop the bust of Qabus bin Said. While the mintage for this type is unrecorded, it was certainly very small, as we have seen only two other examples appear at auction, the last of which sold in 2012. From the Pinnacle Collection."</blockquote> Oman, long a British protectorate, achieved full independence in 1971. Coinage began that year. She has watched enviously as her neighbors, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, harvest billions of dollars by selling oil, of which little occurs in Omani territory. This type also comes in silver.

''Recorded mintage:'' unknown.
