This specimen was lot 23335 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2020), where it sold for $528. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "[[New Zealand|NEW ZEALAND]]. 6 Pence, 1934. PCGS MS-66 Gold Shield. A resounding Gem, this lovely specimen, offering intense luster and a delightful peripheral iridescence, is tied with just two other examples for the finest graded in the PCGS census. From the Fenton Collection." Coinage was first struck for New Zealand in 1933 and this type, struck 1933-36, quickly proved popular, being issued until the end of sterling coinage in 1965. The denomination was converted to copper-nickel in 1947. The reverse depicts a huia bird. Most of the silver issues are expensive in high grade.
