This specimen was lot 1198 in CNG sale Triton XXVII (New York, January 2024), where it sold for $937.50. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "[[Nepal|NEPAL]], Shah dynasty. Tribhuvana Vira Vikrama. VS 1968-2007 / AD 1911-1950. AV Asarphi – Tola. Dated VS 2000 (AD 1943). Legend around trident, flanked by crescent moon and sun; above crossed kukris; VS date in exergue / Legend and design within center of floral design; additional legend in petals. In NGC encapsulation 4863673-012, graded MS 63. Conservatively graded in our opinion." This issue of king Tribhuvana Bir Bikram (r. 1911-50) is listed for VS 1992 only. Instead of the square on the obverse shown on KM 703.1, this example shows crossed khukris. Nepal was and is an independent nation between India and Tibet but under the strong influence of the British raj. Some coins are dated using the Saka Era (SE) and others using the Bikram Samvat Era (VS).
