This specimen is one of a type struck for the Bourbon Kingdom of the Two Sicilies 1832-47. The SCWC notes that 240 tornesi = 6 tari = 1 piastra, where a [[Naples and Sicily 1796-P AP 120 grana Dav-1409|piastra]] is roughly equal to a peso. This coin was worth 1/120 of a piastra; the denomination was struck 1825-59. The Bourbon dynasty, rulers of Naples since 1735, were evicted by Napoleon to make room for his brother Joseph in 1806 but returned in 1815. This type is scarce in nice condition. This specimen was lot 1312 in Stephen Album sale 30 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2018), where it sold for $164.50. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "NAPLES & SICILY: Ferdinando II, 1830-1859, AE ½ tornese, 1857, lovely chocolate brown iridescent luster, NGC graded MS65 BR."
