This specimen was part of lot 1755 in Jean Elsen sale 165 (Brussels, June 2026), where it sold for €130 (about US$179 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''ITALIE, NAPLES, Charles II (1665-1700), lot de 2 p.: carlino, 1684; tari (20 grana), 1691. P.& R. 18, 29. presque Très Beau.'' ([[Italy]], [[Italy, Naples & Sicily|kingdom of Naples]], Charles II, 1665-1700, carlino of 1684 and a tari of 1691. about Very Fine.)"</blockquote> This type was struck 1683-87. The SCWC notes that 12 carlini = six tari = one piastra, where a piastra is roughly equal to a peso. Charles II, the last Hapsburg king of Spain, was also king of Naples and Sicily. After his death the area passed out of the hands of the Spanish crown, only to be reconquered by them in the 1730's.<br />
