This specimen was lot 99139 in Heritage sale 61253 (Dallas, January 2022), where it sold for $192. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "[[Monaco]]. Antoine I 8 Deniers (Dardenna) 1720 F15 Brown NGC. Deeply patinated and more extensively circulated -- a typical feature of this anything but typical type, of which only two examples have been certified by NGC to date, the present offering being the finest of these." The coinage of Monaco in the eighteenth century is scanty, mostly imitations of French or Sardinian coinage. The result was a mix of French and Italian denominations. Three deniers = one liard; 4 liards = one sol; 3 sols = one pezetta; 20 pezettas = one scudo. This is a rare one year type. It was accompanied by KM 76 (4 deniers), 78, 79 (1½ sols), and KM 80, 81 (3 sols).
