This specimen was lot 74840 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2022), where it sold for $120. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "[[Mexico|MEXICO]]. 50 Centavos, 1906-M. Mexico City Mint. NGC MS-63. A pleasing example of the type, with full cartwheel luster and a bare touch of toning on the eagle side." This type was struck 1905-08, 1912-18. The 1906 is a slightly better date, with open and closed '9' varieties. This fifty centavos piece replaced the fifty centavo piece struck 1869-95 under the Republic. The older coin was 13.54 g, .903 fine. It, in turn, was replaced by a smaller fifty centavos piece in 1919.
