Most survivors are in poor condition like the first one shown. It and the rest of the imperial coinage were demonetized by the Juarez regime as soon as Maximilian had been captured and shot, but the amount of wear indicates that the coin circulated for a long period anyhow. The next fifty centavos issue was the balance scale type of 1869-95 (KM 407). The second specimen was lot 6475 in Ponterio sale 155 (Baltimore, November 2010), where it sold for $540.50.
