This specimen was lot 34146 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2022), where it sold for $1,320. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"[[Mexico|MEXICO]]. 'Royal' Presentation Cob 1/2 Real, 1722-Mo J. Mexico City Mint, Assayer Jose E. de Leon (J). Philip V. PCGS Genuine--Holed, AU Details. The only certified example of the date in this format on either the NGC or PCGS census. Boldly struck and very attractive, this handsome example displays lovely old envelope patina that complements the intricate designs of this small silver issue. The devices are well-struck and complete with only a minor shift in the strike. A small hole is noticed at 12 o'clock, commonly encountered on issues of this format, but is hardly distracting. Despite its shortcomings this nicely preserved example is sure to be a welcome addition to the next collection it enters. From the Pat Johnson Collection. Ex: Miguel Munoz Collection (Superior - 6/1978) Lot # 367."</blockquote> The silver cobs were debased from .931 fine to .917 fine in 1728. They are not rare but very scarce with legible dates.
