This specimen was lot 596 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 38 (Winter Park, FL, November 2025), where it sold for $3,120. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "[[Mexico|MEXICO]], Mexico City, cob 8 reales, 1666 G/P, rare. Broad, squarish flan with bold full assayer and clear over-assayer, most of date visible (albeit weakly), most of cross and shield despite extensive flatness, overall Fine with toning in crevices." This specimen is a silver cob eight reales struck at Mexico City 1621-67. Assayer "P" is listed for 1634-65 and assayer "G" for 1666-74. Dated examples are few. The auctioneers and the SCWC attribute this to Philip IV while Cayón files this under Charles II.
