The first specimen was part of lot 24385 in Heritage sale 3020 (Long Beach, September 2012), where it sold for $7,637.50. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "George V 1934 3 piece Proof Set, KM15,16 & 17, all graded NGC Proof 66. Moderately toned over superb surfaces. An extremely rare set of Proofs in exemplary condition. From The Ted Reams Collection." This rupee was struck for [[Mauritius]] in 1934 and is the first coin of that denomination issued for that island. Smaller denominations had been minted as far back as the 1870's. The island remained under British rule until 1968.
