This specimen was struck for [[Japan]] by the Tokyo mint, which issued this type 1989-2019. It was issued in collector sets only for years 2009-13 and 2016-19. The aluminum yen was introduced in 1955 as part of Macarthur's currency reform of 1948, which dropped all denominations under one yen. A similar type was issued under Hirohito's name in immense quantities.&lt;br /&gt;
