This specimen was lot 264 in Künker sale 400 (Berlin, February 2024), where it sold for €3,200 (about US$4,152 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''SCHLESIEN, JÄGERNDORF, HERZOGTUM, Georg Friedrich, 1543-1603. Reichstaler 1593, Jägerndorf; Von großer Seltenheit. Feine Patina, sehr schön.'' ([[Germany]], [[German States, Silesia|Silesia]], duchy of Jagerndorf, George Frederick, 1543-1603, thaler of 1593, Jagerndorf mint. Extremely rare, fine patina, very fine.)"</blockquote> Silesia is considered a German State even tho the province was then under Austrian rule and is now in [[Poland]]. Jagerndorf, in upper Silesia, was part of Silesia that [[Austria]] retained after Frederick the Great conquered the major portion for Prussia in 1741-45. It is now part of the Czech Republic. For many generations it was held by the princes of Liechtenstein but before that, the duchy was ruled by the margraves of Brandenburg-Ansbach 1523-1623. Davenport lists this type for 1593-1602 (the 1601-02 issues are listed as Dav-6844). Some thalers (KM MB50) were struck on half thaler dies using thick planchets.
