This specimen was lot 73834 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2023), where it sold for $900. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "[[Israel|ISRAEL]]. 10 Lirot, 1971. Jerusalem Mint. NGC PROOF-66. Mintage: 80. Berne Dies. The KEY TYPE in the Israel silver commemorative series, this commemorative was produced from dies made by the Berne Mint and suppl[ied] to the Jerusalem Mint. Found to be unsatisfactory, the dies were destroyed after 80 coins were struck, leaving this as one of the lowest mintage emissions from the Israel series. Featuring a matte finish, this piece provides much commendable beauty in addition to the RARITY. A piece that is certain to capture much attention." Rapid inflation destroyed the value of the 1949 series and the coinage was reformed in 1960 to 100 agorot = one lira. This NCLT is one of a series struck 1967-74 in this module, which superseded the five lirot used heretofore. A similar 100 lirot was struck in gold. Other ten lirot for 1971 included KM 57 (Pidyon Haben) and KM 58 (atomic energy).
