This specimen was lot 73833 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2023), where it sold for $100. The catalog description[1] noted, "[[Israel|ISRAEL]]. 10 Lirot, 1968. Berne Mint. ANACS PROOF-68. 20th Anniversary of independence. A tremendous nearly flawless example, this exceptional piece delivers resounding luster and sharp details, with essentially no evidence of handling on the surfaces. An impressive and wholesome specimen." Rapid inflation destroyed the value of the 1949 series and the coinage was reformed in 1960 to 100 agorot = one lira. This NCLT is one of a series struck 1967-74 in this module, which superseded the five lirot used heretofore. A similar 100 lirot was struck in gold.
