British issues for [[Ireland]] in the nineteenth century were erratic and sparse. The only one that can be called common are the [[Ireland 1805 1/2 penny|half pennies]] and pennies of 1805 and the [[Ireland 1806 farthing|farthings]] of 1806. These were later restruck in silver, gold, gilt copper and bronzed copper. Stylistically, these strongly resemble the "cartwheel" British pennies and tuppences dated 1797, suggesting that these were also produced by Boulton and Watt under contract. This specimen was lot 72480 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Santa Ana, CA, May 2017), where it sold for $540.50. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "IRELAND. Penny, 1805. PCGS PROOF-64. Bronzed with engrailed edge. Sharply struck with attractive chocolate brown surfaces."
