This specimen was lot 403 in Goldberg sale 136 (Los Angeles, September 2023), where it sold for $504. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "[[Iran]]. 5000 Dinars (½ Toman), AH1301 (1883). Nasir al-Din Shah, 1848-1896. Uniformed bust slightly left. PCGS graded MS-61." This type was struck AH 1297-1307 and 1313 during the reign of Nasir al-Din Shah, who was assassinated while preparing to celebrate the 50th year of his rule. One thousand dinars made a kran and ten kran made a toman. The largest silver coin was the five krans.
