The kingdom was separated from [[Denmark]] in 1918 and coinage commenced with an issue of ten and twenty-five aurar in 1922. One and two kronur were added in 1925 and one, two and five aurar in 1926. The kingdom ended when Iceland declared herself a republic in 1944. This is the final date of the denomination, which was not resumed after the war.
