The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "[[Hungary|HUNGARY]]: Republic, 50 filler, 1948-BP, NGC graded MS65." This was one of the last issues of the second Republic of Hungary before it was converted into the People's Republic in August 1949. Elections after Hungary's surrender in 1945 showed a landslide victory for the Independent Smallholder's Party but by subversion, intimidation and fraud, the communists were able to obtain the levers of power.<br />
