This specimen was lot 3718 in Sincona sale 43 (Zurich, October 2017), where it sold for 550 CHF (about US$656 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE - AUSTRIA, Franz Joseph I. 1848-1916 8 Forint-20 Francs 1878. Kremnitz. Vorzüglich-FDC.'' ((Kingdom of Hungary, Francis Joseph I, 1848-1916, eight florins or twenty francs of 1878, Kremnitz mint. Extremely fine-uncirculated.)"</blockquote> This type was issued for Hungary 1880-90 from the Kremnitz (Komoczbanya in Magyar) mint during the reign of Emperor Francis Joseph of [[Austria]]-Hungary. The denomination was struck 1870-92 to match the standard of the French twenty francs d'or. Most dates are common. There was a slight revision of the emperor's bust in 1880 and both types were struck that year. After the reorganization of the Hapsburg empire into the Dual Monarchy in 1867, Hungary received her own coinage separate from Austrian issues. In the aftermath of World War One, the Hapsburg monarchy collapsed and Hungary became independent but without its former territories in Slovakia, Transylvania and Croatia.
