This specimen was lot 1128 in Goldberg sale 116 (Los Angeles, June 2020), where it sold for $324. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "[[Hungary]]. 8 Forint 20 Francs, 1875-KB. Franz Joseph I. Very Fine to Extremely Fine." This type was issued for Hungary 1880-90 from the Kremnitz (Komoczbanya in Magyar) mint during the reign of Emperor Francis Joseph of [[Austria]]-Hungary. The denomination was struck 1870-92 to match the standard of the French twenty francs d'or. Most dates are common. There was a slight revision of the emperor's bust in 1880 and both types were struck that year. After the reorganization of the Hapsburg empire into the Dual Monarchy in 1867, Hungary received her own coinage separate from Austrian issues. In the aftermath of World War One, the Hapsburg monarchy collapsed and Hungary became independent but without its former territories in Slovakia, Transylvania and Croatia.
