This specimen was lot 34996 in Heritage sale 3094 (Chicago, August 2021), where it sold for $3,120. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "[[Netherlands]]: Holland. Provincial gold 2 Ducat 1655 AU55 NGC. A much scarcer denomination than the standard single Ducats of the same design, this being only the second example of the date we have offered and one of just three yet certified by NGC. What is perhaps even more notable is the overall quality of the obverse strike, flatness remaining generally absent from the figure of the standing knight, while the die has been very well centered. From the Long Island Collection." This type was struck with this mintmark 1645-63. It is much scarcer than the single ducat. Holland was the largest and wealthiest part of the United Provinces, now the kingdom of the Netherlands.
