This specimen was lot 2932 in Steve Album Auction 51 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2025), where it sold for $180. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "HANAU-LICHTENBERG: Friedrich Casimir, 1641-1685, AR 2 kreuzer, Hanau, 1682, initials SM, bold strike, PCGS graded MS63." This type was struck 1647-48, 1651-58, 1667-72, 1680-84 and has a modest catalog value. One thaler was seventy-two of these coins. The "Z" in the orb is the value (2 kreuzer). Friedrich Casimir's quixotic project to found a colony in South America left the county deeply in debt. Hanau-Munzenberg was erected again in 1691 for Friedrich Casimir's nephew, Philipp Reinhard. Hanau-Lichtenberg eventually fell to [[German States, Hesse-Darmstadt|Hesse-Darmstadt]].
