This half new penny, or 1/200 of a pound, was introduced in 1971 as part of the [[Great Britain]] decimal reform. It had no equivalent in the sterling coinage but was worth about one pence farthing. It was struck in this style until 1982, when the word "new" was dropped from the reverse (KM 926). Some dates, such as 1972, were struck only for collector sets. It was dropped after 1984.
