This specimen was lot 40586 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Costa Mesa, CA, August 2021), where it sold for $1,680. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "[[Great Britain|GREAT BRITAIN]]. Farthing, 1954. London Mint. PCGS PROOF-65 Red Cameo Gold Shield. VERY RARE and highly enticing, this glistening Gem radiates with beauty and stands as the sole red specimen seen in proof at PCGS. as such, an incredible opportunity for an absolutely stunning, dazzling coin." Altho 40,000 proof sets were made and sold in 1953, the proofs of the rest of the decade are all rare. The wren reverse was introduced in 1937. The obverse legend was revised in 1954 to drop "BRITT:OMN:" and the farthing was terminated in 1956.
